HomeMy WebLinkAboutStarboard by the SeaApril 24, 2003 Starboard by the Sea 263 West First Street Ocean Isle Beach NC 28469 RE: Exempted project at 263 West First Street To Whom It May Concern: We have received the information submitted to this office in your inquiry concerning the necessity of filing an application for a minor development permit under the Coastal Area Management Act. The activity you propose is exempt from needing a minor development permit as long as it meets the conditions specified below. If your plans should change and your project will no longer meet those conditions, please contact me before proceeding. DESCRIPTION OF ACTIVITY AND CONDITIONS: Sand fencing at 263 West 1" Street (1) The individual fence sections should not exceed ten(10) feet in length and should be placed at least seven(7) feet apart (parallel to each other). Placement of fencing must be at least 45 degrees to the shoreline, facing the predominate wind direction. (2) The sand fencing should consist of evenly spaced wooden slats wired together and supported by wooden posts(2x4). (3) The sand fencing should be placed as far landward as possible, but not on top of the dune. Also the sand fencing must be anchored within 1 foot of the toe of the dune. (4) The sand fencing must be constructed so as to make no alterations to the frontal dunes or be detrimental to vegetation of the dunes. (5) See the attached diagram for assistance. This letter of exemption is valid for a period of 90 days only. A new aplication will need to be submitted if construction is not commenced within that time.
