You will need to contact Caroline Bellis with the Division of Coastal Management at (910) 395-
3900 to apply for CAMA permits. Once you have received the CAMA permits for the
development you will then apply for a building permit at Town Hall. When applying for the permit
to install the boatlift you will need to let us know what electrian will be doing the electrical work for
this.
There is forms that I will mail you bn 5/13, 2004 that you will need for the adjacent property
owners to sign, these will be in this package. It appears that you have a 50 foot wide lot. You
should be allowed a maximum 200 square feet of floating dock. So if all you now have is a 8 foot
x 16 foot ramp replacement will be possible. The ramp area if 4 feet or less will not be
calculated in this footage.

Subject Help with boat lift permit OP
Can you guide us in the proper direction to get a boat lift inston a canal lot?
We moved into 121 Marlin Drive in Harbor Acres in January of this year. I contacted a
local dock builder to have a boat lift installed. They said they would take care of all the
permits, etc. To date I have not heard back from the builder, so I figure I may have to get
the permit / permission on my own and find a different dock builder.
Can you tell me what permit I need? I also understand that I may need permission from
my neighbor as well. Is there a special form for that purpose? If so, can you direct me to
someone who can provide the home address of the property owner of 119 Marlin Drive
so I can contact him directly?
Are there any other rules beyond the permit process I need to follow as we prepare for
installing a boat lift? At this time I am only planning on installing a boat lift and replace
the floating dock (8"x16") with a new one of the same size.
Any assistance you can offer would be quite helpful.
Also, as I look to the future I will most likely have to replace the dock and gangway to the
floating dock. Are there any special rules or permit process I should be following when I
get to that point as well? I plan on doing most of the work myself, but will probably get
assistance replacing the pilings.
Again, thank you for any assistance
