PERMIT TO ADD SAND TO THE EXISTING DUNEI!!!!!!!
1. Placement of sand shall be aligned to the greatest extent possible with existing
adjacent dune ridges and shall be of the same general configuration as adjacent
natural dunes.
2. Sand utilized for the activities authorized in this modification shall be compatible
with existing beach sand, and the compatibility must be confirmed by the Local
Permit Officer prior to the initiation of any permitted activities. The sand shall also
be clean and free of debris, and shall not be removed from any existing beach front or
dune system.
3. In order to afford protection to nesting sea turtles and beach infauna, the project
approved herein shall not take place between May 1 and November 15 of any year
without the prior approval of the NC Wildlife Resources Commission, US Fish and
Wildlife Service, and the Division of Coastal Management.
4. Equipment utilized to place the hauled in sand or repair dunes shall not be operated
seaward of the mean low water elevation contour.
This permit action maybe appealed by the permittee or other
qualified persons within twenty (20) days of the issuing date.
From the date of an appeal, any work conducted under this per-
mit m..st cease until the appeal is resolved.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the
permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance.
Any maintenance work or project modifications not covered
under this permit requires further written permit approval.

During and after construction activities, a uniform, gradual slope will be maintained
so as not to endanger the public or interfere with the public's use of the beach.
6. This activity must not significantly increase erosion on neighboring properties and
must not have a significant adverse effect on important natural or cultural resources.
7. All work shall be carried out in such manner so as to prevent or minimize the damage
to any existing vegetation.
8. This permit does not grant any property rights or exclusive privileges.
9. Areas of dune restoration shall be vegetatively stabilized as soon as feasible following
project completion.

any activity and will be monitoring the project at all times. The Local CAMA
officers must also be notified immediately after work is completed for a final
inspection.
13. Addding to dunes shall be accomplished in such a manner that the damage to existing
vegetaton is minimized. The filled areas will be immediately replanted or temporarily
stabilized until planting can be successfully completed
NOTE: The artificially established vegetation line resulting from the permitted activities
will not be used to determine setbacks until such time as the dunes are c TM T,
