Dear Mr.Jim Coble:
After reviewing your application in conjunction with the development standards
required by the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA), it is my determination that no
permit may be granted for the project you have proposed.
This decision is based on my finding that your request violated 113A-120(8) which
requires that all applications be denied which are inconsistent with CAMA guidelines.
You have applied to place concrete underneath a single family residence that was
permitted under section 15A NCAC 07H .0309 (b). Number (4)(C) of this section states
that driveways and parking area shall be constructed of clay, packed sand or gravel. The
proposed concrete to be placed underneath this home is determined to be a parking area.
The area in which this home is located has a setback area of 120 feet landward of the -
vegetation line. The house could not meet the current setback and was permitted to be
constructed using section 15A NCAC 07H .0309(b).
Your authorized agent has notified me of your request to send you the paperwork
needed to apply for a varience to this regulation. Enclosed you will find the requested
forms that you will need to apply for a variance to the Coastal Resource Commission.
