As discussed,the only wetland area I observed on the property was the depressional wetland that I flagged behind the berm, and I did not observe any wetlands along the shoreline. I don't have any concerns with you issuing a GP to place rip-rap and backfill along the shoreline. I'll be glad to go back out there and re-flag the new wetland boundary if needed. Mr.Soria has proposed to place granite riprap along his+/-110 shoreline adjacent to the Albemarle Sound at NWL or slightly landward as a form of shoreline stabilization. Also included in the proposal was the placement of fill (sand) behind the riprap to help with stabilization and the leveling of the ground directly behind the riprap. The flags you placed around the wetland area between the future home site and the sound are still visible and his proposal will avoid any fill being placed in this area. Although the flags are still visible Mr.Soria may reach out for another delineation in the future as a couple winter storms brought large amounts of sand onto the property and into the flagged area. I am reaching out to confirm that I can proceed with this project by permitting the placement of riprap at NWL along with the associated fill under a General Permit with NC Coastal Management.
