Dear Ms. Ochis:
I have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your inquiry concerning the necessary
filing of an application for a minor development permit under the Coastal Area Management Act. After
making a site inspection on 04/05/17,1 have determined that the activity you propose is exempt from
needing a minor development permit as long as it remains consistent with your materials list submitted on
04105/17, and meets the conditions specified below. It your plans should change and your project will no
longer meet these conditions, please contact me before proceeding.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR • (G.S.113-103(5)(B)(5) and 7K.0209) - Structures may be repaired in a
similar manner, size and location as the original stricture. No expansions or additions are permissible. The
repairs are limited to 50% of the physical value of the existing structure and the following specific conditions.
1. The project consists of the repair of existing handrails, stairs, and deck on existing structure, as
shown on the attached materials list.
2. The proposed repairs shall be consistent with all other applicable local ordinances and North
Carolina Building Code standards.
3.
This exemption to CAMA permit requirements does not alleviate the necessity of your obtaining any
other State, Federal or Local authorization and N.C. Building Permits. This exemption expires 90 days from
the date of the letter.

THREE 1-1/4" STAINLESS STEEL TUBES, TOP 2X4 WITH A 2X6 TOP
RAIL. TUBES ARE DRILLED INTO THE 4X4 ALL OTHER MATERIAL
WILL BE SCREWED/NAILED. POSTS ON 2ND FLOOR WILL SIT IN A
GALVINIZED POST BOTTOM FASTENED TO FLOOR JOISTS. IOWER
POSTS WILL BE THRU BOLTED WITH A "L" CUT AND AT SOME
AREAS WHERE NEEDED A GALVINIZED 2.5" TEE AND OR FLAT
STOCK WITH 7/8" HOLES TO RECEIVE THE THRU BOLTS. SOME
AREAS WILL BE LAG BOLTED AS NEEDED.
