I have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your inquiry concerning the necessary filing of an
application for a minor development permit under the Coastal Area Management Act. After making a site inspection
on 8/3/09,1 have determined thattthe actiGty�yotpropose is exempt from needing a minor development permit as
long as it remains consistent with your site drawing and materials list submitted on 7/31/09, and meets the conditions
specified below. If your plans should change and your project will no longer meet these conditions, please contact
me before proceeding.
MAINTENANCE AND REPAIR - (G.S.113-103(5)(B)(5) and 71CO209) - Structures may be repaired in a similar
manner, size and location as the original structure. No expansions or additions are permissible. The repairs
are limited to 50% of the physical value of the existing structure and the following speciric conditions.
1. The project consists of the repair ofthe deReno—rate-d members of a front porch as shown on the attached
drawirig=an&m-ate-6als list. -
2. The proposed repairs shall be consistent with all other applicable local ordinances and North Carolina
Building -Code -standards. --
- 3. No changes shall be made to the building footprint - This exemption to CAMA permit requirements does not alleviate the necessity of your obtaining any other State, --
Federal or Local authorization and N.C. Building Permits. This exemption expires 90 days from the date of the
letter.

I have attached a .jpg image showing what will be repaired and replaced. You are correct - it is hard to get an
exact material list, but my best guess estimate is as follows:
0 176 square ft of porch deck boards
. 2 - 2x4x12 to replace rotten 2x4 under porch
. 1 - 2x8x8 to replace rotten 2x8 on corner
. Approximately 22 - 2x2x8 pickets for front railing
. Approx 35 feet of 2X4's to replace 2x4 railings
. Approx 38 feet of 1X4 and 1X6 fascia board
The porch is approximately 8x22 in size
I will give you a call in a little bit just to make sure you got my email and don't have anymore questions. Please
