The original permit authorized development of the fast phase of a long-term project to construct a dockwalk along the shoreline of Bicentennial Park and the historic downtown waterfront. The permit has been modified several times to include additional phases of the dockwalk, installation of a kayak launch and public fishing pier, and associated improvements to the portion of the park located north of the Highway 24 bridge. The Town has continuously renewed the permit over the years to keep it active. It was last renewed on February 1, 2019 and will expire on December 31, 2020. All work authorized by the permit has been constructed. The Town was recently notified of its selection to receive funding through the NC Public Beach and Coastal Waterfront Access Grant Program. The grant will be used for construction of an additional phase of the dockwalk along the waterfront located south of the bridge, including a section of Bicentennial Park. The Town plans to begin work as soon as all contractual arrangements and approvals are in place. The Town is requesting that permit 112-05 be renewed in order to build the new phase of the project. A major permit modification application will subsequently be submitted to cover the proposed work. Enclosed with this request is an agent letter authorizing me to act on behalf of the Town of Swansboro. Also enclosed is Coastal Planning Services, Inc. check 1319 in the amount of $100.00 to cover the renewal fee. Thank you for your assistance.
