Please find enclosed a request from Mr. John Wade with Arendell Engineers, dated received by DCM on
October 5, 2017 to refine the existing CAMA permit. This permit, #74-17, was issued on 6/9/17 and is set
to expire on 12/31/20. The permit authorized golf course and facilities development.
The applicant is proposing to replace the existing 10' x 24' bridge within the same footprint. If the
proposed development is constructed as shown on the drawing dated received 10/5/17, then the
proposal is consistent with the specific guidelines found in 15A NCAC 07H.0208. This district
recommends the refinement be authorized as proposed, contingent all original conditions apply and the
following specific conditions.
• All work must be completed as shown on plat dated received by DCM on 10/5/17
• The portions of the bridge over any coastal wetland areas shall be a minimum of 3' above
substrate.
• Removal of the existing culvert is not authorized.
• Decking shall be slatted and drip through design

Re. Morehead City Country Club Golf Course and Facilities Depelopment
CAMA Permit #74-17 Letter of Refinement Request
Morehead City, Carteret County, North Carolina
Dear Ms. Styron:
On behalf of Morehead City Country Club, we respectfully request a Letter of Refinement to replace the
existing approximately 10' wide timber bridge over the tidal creek adjacent to the # 18 golf hole fairway.
There is an approximately 36" concrete culvert that will remain.
The new bridge will be located within the same footprint and will extend from high ground to high
ground. The decking of the new bridge will either be timber or concrete. If it is concrete, the decking
will be slatted such that it can drip through. The bottom of the decking will be a minimum 3' above the
coastal wetland substrate.
The existing 36" concrete culvert will remain but the matting that is located on the upstream side of the
culvert will be cut at the substrate level and removed.
Thank you for your help on this project.
Please give me a call if you have questions or need additional information.
Sincerely,
ARENDELL ENGINEERS
