Wilmington, N. C. 28403 Attn: Ed Brooks Re: Application for renewal of Maintenance Dredging Permit To Whom it Concerns, The Oyster.Bay Homeowners Association presently holds DNRC Permit #41-89, issued December 17, 1992. This permit allowed maintenance dredging of an existing entrance channel and boat basin. Some maintenance dredging was done in the spring of 1995 using a clam shell dredge. As a result of destruction of the docking facilities by hurricanes `Bertha" and "Fran" In last half of 1996, re -dredging and rebuilding of the facility was required. The rebuilding/dredging was done under a modification to permit #41-89. All work under this permit, which expires December 31, 1997, is complete. By this letter we are requesting renewal of the permit for another 5 year period or maximum period allowed. No modifications are requested. Maintenance dredging is not expected again for several years, but in the event of another storm, such as "Fran", it may be necessary. As a result of the maintenance dredging in 1996, we established a spoit area on one of the spoil islands across from our boat basin. This area was made large enough to allow for one or two more dredgings and was approved by Ms. Tere Barrett of your office. Spoil area plan and dredge site plan should be in your file, but it not, please advise and they will be delivered to you. Enclosed please find a Cooperative Bank check for $50.00 for the renewal fee.
