Re: Objection to the Issuance of CAMA General Permit #86578A for a Bulkhead Project located at
105 Princess Court in Colington, Dare County, NC.
Dear Mr. & Mrs. Schaefer:
This letter is in response to your objection as an adjacent riparian property owner to a permit request from D&B
Bulkheads, on behalf of Franklin Shelby & Paula Szabados, for the construction of ± 65 feet of replacement
bulkhead. This project is located at 105 Princess Court, Colington in Dare County and adjacent to a canal that leads
to Kitty Hawk Bay.
Under the Coastal Area Management Act (CAMA), the Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) has established
Rules for General Permits for this type of development that are found in 15A NCAC 07H.1100.
The Division of Coastal Management has reviewed your objections, along with all aspects of this development
proposal for consistency with the aforementioned Rules, which describe the CRC's standards and guidelines for
this type of development. Our review of the proposed development has found it to be consistent with the Rules of
the CRC and the State's Coastal Management Program, and that all pre -requisites have been satisfied. Therefore,
the Division of Coastal Management issued General Permit #86578A on June 17, 2022 (copy attached) for the
proposed development.
If you wish to appeal this permit decision, you must file a Third -Party Hearing Request Form with the Director of the
Division of Coastal Management within 20 days of the permit issuance date. If you choose to pursue an appeal,
please contact this office so that we can provide you with the appropriate forms and addresses.

Enclosed please find my notice of objection to a proposed bulkhead project
located: 105 Princess Court
Collington, NC 27948
I own the adjacent property:
107 Princess Court
The reason for my objection is that the hand drawn diagram is not clear to
me, I want to know why the proposed bulkhead is 2 feet in front of mine and
as such, how they plan to tie it in to mine so there are no wash outs.
I have called the office of D&B Bulkheads 3-4 times and the person I spoke
with was unable to answer my questions and directed me to the person
running the project. I left multiple voicemails and did not get a return call.
Then on 5-6-2022 called again to inform them I was objecting and he did
call back but I was unable to take the call and setit an email asking for a call
back which again, never happened.
I did not wish to delay this project for the sake of my neighbor, I simply
wanted to get a couple questions answered.
