For the marsh sill sections, baffled gaps at least 5 feet in width will be placed every 100 feet to allow water circulation and fish passage per permit conditions. When the distance of the structure is 5 feet from existing wetlands, 5 ft. wide open gaps in the marsh sill will occur instead. The marsh sill / marsh toe revetment will be constructed parallel to the shoreline by layering oyster shell bags or other suitable, DCM-approved materials, as shown on Figure 2. Coir fiber matting or equivalent will be placed underneath the material to reduce settling. Marsh sill sections will be constructed when a 10 ft. minimum setback is possible between the bags and any native submerged aquatic vegetation per permit conditions. Marsh toe revetment sections will be constructed when the 10 ft. minimum setback would not be possible.
