Details of placement and type/content of fill material. 3. The entire boundary line, including endpoints must be clearly and physically marked by a survey professional. The land is not the same as in 2007. 4. Mr. and Mrs. Loken must be fully informed via written notice of the plans by the USDA to restore/improve his and our properties at no charge to the property owner (as discussed on the phone conversation betvvaen April and Brad on 1/14). 5. Copy of original permit for wall (ca. 2007) guilt by Joe and Nancy Freemon at 230 Drake Lndg. We understand, as stated in "How to Protect your Property from Shoreline Erosion" (written by Seachange Consulting for the N.C. Div. of Coastal Management), that "the permit reps have: the same goals [we] have: to keep [us] and [our] property safe and the estuary healthy" (p. 5). We have yet to find any research indicating positive results from a perpendicular sea wall such as the Loken's, particularly extending a wall closer to both our homes, and with it, the consequent erosion and end toy: scouring ..°.loser to our foundations. The approved USDA grant work for both properties negates the need for the proposed wall extension. We object to the proposed wall extension. We want to ensure that all parties fully understand all options and proposals, that there is no miscommunication, and most importantly, that we all, as stewards of the Land that God has entrusted to our care, do what is best for the land and adjacent waters and ecosystems. The basis for this objection is the amount of uncertainty involved ir, the proposed work. On several occasions, Mr. Eric Loken has relayed to us (my husband and myself) of his own uncertainty o` vvhere his p, eopertY line ends and of his uncertainty of whether his existing sea wall is within the confines of his own property. The Lokens are not the original owners of their home or the sea wall between otX oroperties. Clue to this great uncertainty, it is paramount that Mr. Eric Loken takes responsibility to have his property professionally surveyed to e,�sure no current encroachment exist or may result from this proposed work. We object to the proposed work by Mr Eric' o'<en until the following conditions are satisfied: 1) Mr. Eric Loken has a property sun!ey cor;;pleted clearly identifying the corners and the boundary line of his property a:ljacent to our property, thus ensuring his existing seawall is not encroaching on our property and none would occur by the proposed work. The survey must maintain the highest lavel of accuracy as the properties are waterfront properties on the lower Neuse Diver. 2) A clear, detailed description is provided of the proposed work. Tile current description of work is vague and ambiguous. Questions s ch as: 1) Will any work be done to the existing sea vo,4l of which the ;proposed 2) Where exactly does the proposed wall extension begin and end 3) Is the proposed final product a 530' wall (rer mving old wall & installing new vinyl wall) or does the proposed plan involve adding 30' to the existing wall (which would receive strong objection and motivate legal action to contest). Such a structure would leave our property (both lance and home) at greater risk to potential erosion over Ville as a result of the potential hydrodynamic energy produced off of srsch vertical hard structure erosion control mechanisms, harming our property over time. End toe scouring off of the Loken's existing seawall has shown the negative effects of utilizing hard structure erosion control mechanisms for both of our properties. In addition, geographically descriptive wording should be used to describe the proposed work location (ie 'left side' is not satisfactory).
