Please -see -below -email from US Army Corps of Engineers in reference to 297 Waterway Drive in Snead's Ferry,, if —
lam -reading correctly we can replace decking, stringers and guiders "BUT CAN NOT REPLACE PILINGS"? I will be meeting
with the home owner/customer over the weekend and I am looking for clarification, Your Wisdom?
This dock falls under the same guidance as other docks. There is no "grandfather" clause on setback issue. They would
not be allowed to replace any piles that are past the setback line, which looks like most of the outer portion of the dock.

Thank you for your email. I have coordinated your request with the Corps of Engineers Navigation Branch regarding
repairs to the dock at 297 Waterway Drive in Snead's Ferry, Pender County, NC.
Below is -their -response! "This -dock -falls under the same guidance as other docks. There is no "grandfather" clause -on —
setback issue. They would not be allowed to replace any piles that are past the setback line, which looks like most of the
outer portion of the dock. It looks like the dock was expanded with a gazebo and a boat lift in approx. 2005 time frame
which expanded their encroachment significantly".
