Re: CAMA Marsh Sill General Permit Application — Morris Landing, Holly Ridge, Onslow County
Dear Mr. Connell:
I am writing you on behalf of the North Carolina Coastal Federation Inc. (federation). The federation is
the owner of the Morris Landing Clean Water Preserve located at 898 Morris Landing Road Holly Ridge,
NC 28445. The federation is applying a N.C. Division of Coastal Management Coastal Area Management
Act (CAMA) General Permit for the Placement of Riprap Revetments for Wetland Protection in Estuarine
and Public Trust Waters.
The federation is applying for the Marsh Sill General Permit to construct a 225 linear feet long x 6' wide
oyster and marl bag sill along the northern edge of our Morris Landing Property. The marsh sill will
consist of layers of oyster shell bags and marl bags placed parallel to the shoreline no higher than 12
inches above normal high water. The marsh sill will protect existing patches of salt marsh, and it will be
coupled with salt marsh vegetation planting in suitable areas to encourage salt marsh restoration.
For the application, I have enclosed:
• Permit application information and project work plan design drawings 1-4 including: Plan View
& Info; Cross-section View & Info; Site Plan View; Profile View
• Copies of adjacent property owner letters of notification and certified mail receipts/green cards
$200 permit application fee
