Flood Damage Prevention Ordinance
 Ordinance was amended 1/1/21 to require five feet of freeboard to address issues with
recurring flooding and extensive property damage

Public Access Inventory/long range plan
 County now owns waterfront property, which is open for public access, use and enjoyment of
the Albemarle Sound
 Plans are to break ground this year on a restroom facility and picnic area
 Future plans include a trail and camping area

Subdivision Regulations
 Subdivision Ordinance was amended to comply with 160D

Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan
 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan update was approved April 2021

Heritage Tourism Program
 The county uses a consultant to seek grants for heritage and tourism related projects
 A website has been established to discuss “branding” for Bertie along with steps towards
promoting travel and tourism in Bertie County – www.destinationbertie.com
