VAN DER VAART Secretary Exemption Number — SBEX16-13 RE: EXEMPTED PROJECT - STRUCTURAL BEACH ACCESSWAY (15A NCAC 7K .0207) PROJECT ADDRESS — 32"d Street Beach Access OCEAN HAZARD AREA OF ENVIRONMENTAL CONCERN Dear Mr. Graham: I have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your inquiry concerning the necessary filing of an application for a minor development permit under the Coastal Area Management Act. After making a site inspection on January 28 2016, 1 have determined that the activity you propose is exempt from needing a minor development permit as long as ii remains consistent with your site drawing dated January 28, 2016, and meet the conditions specified below. If you plan should change and your project will no longer meet these conditions, please contact me before proceeding. STRUCTURAL ACCESSWAY EXEMPTED 1. The accessway must not exceed six feet in width and shall provide only pedestrian access to the ocean beac 2. The accessway must be constructed so as to make negligible alterations to the frontal dunes. This means & the accessway must be constructed on raised posts or pilings of five feet or less in depth, so that wherever possible only the posts or pilings touch the frontal dunes without any alteration to the dunes. In no case sh; the frontal dune be altered so as to significantly diminish its capacity as a protective barrier against flooding and erosion. 3. Construction of the accessway be shall consistent with all other applicable local ordinances and N. C. Buildir Code standards. 4. No work is authorized outside of the lateral bounds of the applicant's property. 5. Dune disturbances will be allowed only to the extent necessary for development and if the dune's protectiv, value is not weakened or reduced. Disturbed dune areas will be immediately stabilized. This exemption to CAMA permit requirements does not alleviate the necessity of your obtaining any other State, Federz or Local authorization. This exemption expires 90 days from the date of the letter. Wilmington, NC 28405 RE: Sunset Beach ® Beach Access Walkway Extensions Dear Ms. Snider: Susan Parker, Administrator I am writing to request a CAMA Minor Exemption for 10 public beach access walkover extensions. The proposed extensions are located at Main Street and the following cross streets - 29th, 30th, 31st, 32"d, 33rd, 34th, 35th, 36th, 37th, and 38th. This project has been engineered and submitted by Edward Brunner, PE, dated January 15, 2016. 1 have also included drawings related to each beach access walkway and have identified the abutting property owner information.
