Dear Mr. Shaheen:
I have reviewed the information submitted to this office in your inquiry concerning the necessary filing of an application for a minor
development permit under the Coastal Area Management Act. After making a site inspection on 7/19/2012, 1 have determined that the
activity you propose is exempt from needing a minor development permit as long as it remains consistent with your site drawing dated
received on 7/18/2012, and meets the conditions specified below. If your plans should change and your project will no longer meet
these conditions, please contact me before proceeding. Your project consists of adding a new 8' x 25' storage area beneath the
existing structure. Please note that this structure shall have break away wall and conform to the FEMA flood requirements as well as all
other local, State and Federal regulations/ordinances.
Accessory Uses
1. The development must not disturb a land area greater than 200 square feet.
2. The development must not involve removal, damage, or destruction of threatened or endangered animal or plant species.
3. The development must not alter naturally or artificially created surface drainage channels.
4. The development must not alter the land form or vegetation of a frontal dune.
5. The development must be consistent with all applicable use standards and local land use plans in effect at the time the
exemption is granted.
This exemption to CAMA permit requirements does not alleviate the necessity of your obtaining any other State, Federal or Local
authorization. This exemption expires 90 days from the date of the letter.

Dear Jason,
I have contracted to build an 8 ft. x 25 ft. storage area @ the above residence. Terry at the office said you may write an
exemption for a small project like this. The storage area is to be built on the ground floor below this piling house. I plan
to put two flood vents (vinyl) no more than one foot above grade on the waterside and opposite walls. As far as
materials are concerned, we plan to use treated 2 x 4s and treated plywood up two feet high for sheathing and then OSB
for the remaining part of the wall. Hardiboard is to be installed for the outside covering. Cost for the 25 x 8 storage area
is approximately $4,000. I probably haven't answered all your questions. Please call me at 910.389.3271 if you want to
ask me anything. I know it's asking a lot, but I would greatly appreciate your approval as soon as possible.
