National Marine Fisheries Service has established general guidelines for pier and dock work that involve noise. The Contractor is to post observers along the creek near the job site while dredging, etc. in the water. If a marine mammal (a bottlenose dolphin or a manatee) is observed within 100 meters of the project, the activity should be stopped until the animal has left the area. If there is no loud noise anticipated in the water (i.e. no pile driving), this 100 meter rule is not necessary. 2. The Contractor shall manage and control construction activities to minimize interference with and damage to fish and wildlife. Do not disturb fish and wildlife.
