Note:
Contractor shall insure that he and all his workers (contractors,
subcontractors and other site personnel) do not damage construction
stakes or other measures used in laying out the project whether by
the Engineer or another entity including those under the employ of the
contractor. Contractor shall cause his workers to observe and verify
to the fullest extent practicable that stakes, other measures and grades
are, or appear to be, accurate and correct, and immediately, but prior
to any associated work, notify the staking entity of any potential conflict,
error or question regarding the work. The Engineer shall not be responsible
if all of the above measures are not strictly adhered to. The Engineer shall
not be responsible where due to damage, his staking can not be verified.
For critical or costly components of the work, where the contractor believes
that staking may not be preserved, the contractor shall request the staking
entity to place staking in an area where its preservation can be insured.

Survey Notes:
1.) Topographic information taken from an actual survey by
Parker & Associates, Inc., in October 2020, and previous
surveys of Tallman Street dated October 2011 and Onslow
County Justice Complex dated 11-9-15.
2.) Boundary information taken from an overlay of record maps
and partial survey information from Parker & Associates, Inc.
dated October 2020.
3.) Flood Lines taken from an electronic overlay of the FEMA map
CPN 370178 4376 J and CPN 370178 4366J (City of Jacksonville).
Effective November 3, 2005.
4.) Storm Pipe sizes & location from field locations and design plans.
5.) The GP5 portion of the control work was performed to third order,
Class I, FGCC specifications, the coordinates were obtained by Real
Time Kinematic Differential &PS Observations using Trimble Survey

General Notes:
1. The intent of this plan is to replace the existing bulkhead, pier,
boardwalk, handrails, and lighting along New River.
2. The new bulkhead shall be vinyl Sheet Piles placed in exact location
as the existing bulkhead. The existing bulkhead, boardwalk,
handrails, shall be removed and properly disposed of and replaced.
3. The In -Water Installation of the sheet pile bulkheads cannot be
installed from April 1 to September 30, Due to this area being
classified a Primary Nursery Area.
4. See The Structural and Electrical Lighting Plans for more detail.
5. Contractor shall take precautions as needed when driving Sheet Piles,
not to damage existing storm drain or other utilities.
6.Onslow County Officials shall remove all signs, trash cans, benches,
picnic tables, etc. from the boardwalk area, prior to demolition, then
replace them after construction is complete.
7. Contractor shall verify location of existing water and sewer mains and
report any deviations to Engineer prior to construction.
8. As of October 1, 2014, anyone digging with mechanized equipment in
highway right-of-way, private utility easements, or public spaces will be
required by North Carolina law to give notice of the proposed excavation
to all existing area utilities at least three to twelve business days before
starting to dig. The utility owner is to locate its facilities in the area of
the proposed excavation. Utility members of North Carolina 811 can be
contacted at 1-800-632-4949 or Call 811.
9. Contractor is responsible for contacting any utility company that is not a
member of ULOCO.
10. Contractor shall verify location of all underground utilities prior to
commencement of work.
11. Contractor is responsible for any damages to any existing utilities.
12. Contractor shall install orange safety fence at construction limits to
keep pedestrians out of the construction area.
13. Unusable equipment, Debris and Material shall be disposed of in an
approved manner and location, in accordance to the requirements and to the
satisfaction of the Governing Local, State, and Federal Agencies.
14. All fill material brought to and used on site shall be from an approved
NCDEQ Site.
15. Contractor shall comply with all information and conditions used in the Bid
Documents. See Bid Documents for additional information.
16. Contractor shall comply with all information and conditions in the CAMA
Major permit. See permit for additional information.
Endangered Species Notes:
1. The Contractor shall follow all applicable guidelines within the US Fish and
Wildlife Guidelines for Avoiding Impacts to the West Indian Manatee.
2. The Contractor shall be responsible for observing any water -related activities
for the presence of manatees.
3. If a manatee is spotted within a 50-foot radius (buffer zone) of the active
work area, all work, equipment, and vessel operation (if applicable) must cease.
Manatees must not be herded or harassed into leaving the active work area.
Once the manatee has left the buffer zone on its own accord, and after 30
minutes have passed without additional sightings of monatee(s)in the buffer
zone, any in -water work can resume under careful observation for manatee(s).
