IN THE MATTER OF THE REQUEST
FOR CERTIFICATION OF THE 2018
SHALLOTTE CAMA LAND USE PLAN FINAL AGENCY DECISION
FACTS
1. This is the Town of Shallotte CAMA Land Use Plan adopted February 6, 2018 by
the Town of Shallotte, North Carolina.
2. Shallotte is located within Brunswick County in southeastern North Carolina near
the towns of Holden Beach, Ocean Isle Beach, Sunset Beach and Calabash.
3. Shallotte is requesting certification of the 2018 CAMA Land Use Plan which can
be found at https:Hdeq.nc.gov/aboiit/divisions/coastal-management/coastal-management=land-
use-planning/certified-lups/shallotte. The 2018 CAMA Land Use Plan updates the existing
Shallotte, NorthCarolina CAMA _Land Use Plan previously certified by the Coastal Resources
Commission on September 28, 2007:
4. Shallotte adopted the 2018 CAMA Land Use 'Plan by resolution on February 61,
2018 after a duly advertised public hearing. The public had the opportunity to provide written
comments on the plan. up, to thirty (30) calendar days after local adoption. No comments were
received.
CONCLUSIONS OF LAW
1. Shallotte's 2018 CAMA Land Use Plan has met the substantive requirements
outlined within the 15A NCAC 7B Land Use Planning Requirements effective February 1, 2016.
2. There are no conflicts evident in Shallotte's 2018 CAMA Land Use Plan with either
state or federal law or the State's Coastal Management Program.

3. The elected' body of Shallotte made a final decision on the contents of the 2018
CAMA Land Use Plan and provided opportunity for the public to provide written comment
following local adoption of the plan, as required by N.C.G.S. § 113A-110 and 15A NCAC 7B
.0802 and .0803 and Shallotte's 2018 CAMA Land Use Plan was submitted to the NC Division
of Coastal Management Commission without written objection or comment from the public.
4. During its regularly scheduled meeting on November 7-8, 2017, the North Carolina
Coastal Resources Commission -delegated to the Director of the North Carolina Division of Coastal
Management, Department of Environmental Quality, its authority to approve Land Use Plans
pursuant to N.C.G.S. §113A-110(f). The conditions under which the delegation was made are
included in the November 20,. 201.7 letter to Braxton Davis, Director from Commission Chair
Renee Cahoon. Pursuant to that delegation, the undersigned makes the following decision.
DECISION
For the reasons stated herein, Shallotte's request for certification of the 2018 Shallotte
- LAMA Land Use Plan ("2018 CAMA Land Use Plan") is GRANTED.

NOTICE
CAMA Land Use Plan
The Sunset Beach Town Council will hold a
Public Hearing on Tuesday, November 21,
2017 at 9:00 A.M. in the Town Hall Council
Chambers at 70o..Sunset Blvd. North Sun-
set Beach, NC 28468 to hear comments
regarding the draft 2017 Town ' of Sunset
Beach Land Use Plan.
The 2017 Land Use Plan provides a blue-
print for growth and -development over the
next 20 to 80 years. When viewed as a
guide, the document is intended to pres-
ent the basic. description of the Town . of
Sunset Beach now and into the next few
decades. The Plan may be viewed in the
Town Projects section'of the website www.
sunsetbeachne.gov or during' normal busi-
ness hours at Sunset beach Town Hall.
Following the Public Hearing, the; Council
will consider taking action to formally adopt
the proposed 2017 Town of Sunset Beach
Land Use Plan.
The public. has the opportunity to provide
written comment to the Division of Coast-
al Management following adoption of the
Land Use Plan. If desired, please contact
