APPLICATION FOR lite'ci'As7444) CAMA MINOR DEVELOPMENT PERMIT C In 1974,the North Carolina General Assembly passed the Coastal Area Management Act(CAMA) and set the stage for guiding development in fragile and productive areas that border the state's sounds and oceanfront.Along with requiring special care by those who build and develop, the General Assembly directed the Coastal Resources Commission (CRC)to implement clear regulations that minimize the burden on the applicant. This application for a minor development permit under CAMA is part of the Commission's effort to meet the spirit and intent of the General Assembly. It has been designed to be straightforward and require no more time or effort than necessary from the applicant. Please go over this folder with the Local Permit Officer(LPO) for the locality in which you plan to build to be certain that you understand what information he or she needs before you apply. Under CAMA regulations, the minor permit is to be issued within 25 days once a complete application is in hand.Often less time is needed if the project is simple. The process generally takes about 18 days. You can speed the approval process by making certain that your application is complete and signed, that your drawing meets the specifications given inside and that your application fee is attached. , Other permits are sometimes required for development in the coastal area. While these are not CAMA-related,we urge you to check with the Local Permit Officer to determine which of these you may need.A list is included on page two of this folder. We appreciate your cooperation with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program and your willingness to build in a way that protects the resources of our beautiful and productive coast. Dail, Jason From: Dail, Jason Sent: Tuesday, October 23, 2012 11:00 AM To: 'tarry rice' Subject: 1719 North Shore, Surf City- Incomplete CAMA Minor Permit application RE: INCOMPLETE APPLICATION ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REQUIRED APPLICATION NUMBER- CJL Partner, Inc. PROJECT ADDRESS- 1719 North Shore Drive, Surf City, Pender County Dear Mr. Rice: We originally accepted your application, submitted on behalf of CJL Partner, Inc., under the impression that it was complete. On subsequent review, I have discovered that additional information is needed to complete the review process. Accordingly, I am requesting that you submit the following additional information to this office: I7.1. Please provide a certificate of elevation for this property. V2. As verbally indicated, proof notification to the adjacent property owners shall be provided to the Local Permit officer. The notification forms shall have the Local Permit officer's contact information in case the adjacent property owner has a comment, they know who to contact. Your initial adjacent property owner forms (received by DCM on 10/18/12) did not have any contact information for the LPO. The appropriate DCM contact would be: Jason Dail, LPO-DCM, 127 Cardinal Drive, Wilmington, NC 28405. If you have not already resent the notification forms with this information, I recommend adding the contact info. and mailing the form to the neighbors. i. On the site plan drawing, you will need to show the First Line of Stable Natural Vegetation (FLSNV) and the corresponding setback based on the current erosion rate for this area (which is 2'/year). In this case, the minimum Ocean Hazard Setback is 60', measured from the FLSNV. I will located the FLSNV on 10/25/2012, and you can have the surveyor locate the line and transfer it to the development plans along with the corresponding setback. V4. Please provide a cross-section, or profile view of the proposed residential structures. In accordance with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources regulations, we note that a certain time has passed while the application has remained in our office. Upon resubmission of a complete application, a local decision will be made in 25 days, provided this period is not extended as provided by law. As always, please call if you have any questions.
