Please note in the project description, on the permit application, that this is a renovation and list the building components to be replaced or upgraded. This will cover the demolition and all replacements for your project. Mr. Tesh, I believe you would need a permit however I have included both of our building inspectors to this response so that they can be more specific and clear as to what you will need. In regards to your dock we did not have an issue as well. And congrats on 1117 Front St. Thanks for reaching out. Kyle Garner, Planning & Inspections Director From: John Tesh [mailtQ:j h1 7 @yahoo.com] Sent: Thursday, January 28, 2021 9:37 AM To: Kyle Garner <k.garn r@beaufortnc.org>; Angela Tesh <angelatesh1978@y3hoo.com> Subject: 1117 Front St. Beaufort, Demolition permit required? Good morning, I just called the permitting department and they directed me back to you for a building permit in question. My wife and I recently closed on 1117 Front St. We are going to do some renovations to the property. I have met with serval contractors and they are having a difficult time pricing the renovations with the plaster place. Our plan is to gut the interior of the house, new plumbing, new electrical, new HVAC etc. I wanted to go ahead and gut the inside so the contractors can see the condition of the framing. I will not be removing any load bearing walls, just removing trim, interior doors, plaster cabinets, plumbing fixtures etc. I will be hiring a licensed contractor to handle all the renovations. We have already had a licensed asbestos inspector to perform a inspection and all the asbestos has been removed by a licensed asbestos abatement company. Do I need to obtain any type of interior demolition permit to gut the home before I turn it over to the licensed general contractor? Also when you have a chance to look at the dock information to see if you approve of the layout, that would be great. DECEIVED Thanks for all your help, John J.
