As long as the piles are landward of the setback line and the dock sticking out is not a navigation hazard,we typically sign off on these. As always, we request a note in the permit saying that they are required to remove the dock at the corps request and can replace it when the corps completes any work they may have. Typically we use this for dredging,to ensure there is enough space when we dredge so we ask for floating docks to be removed. Thanks. I've got a contractor that wants to construct the proposed docking facility in the attached pdf. It would involve siting all permanent structures at the USACE setback line, and then extending the "piling- less" gangway system across the setback line to a proposed floating dock. All of the proposed pilings and pier structure would be landward of the federal setback. Is this something the USACE would be ok with?The contractor has told me that they've done this (pilingless gangway over the line) in other parts of Oak Island after obtaining USACE approval.
