Bulkhead Replacement Project
318 Gov Eden House Rd, Merry Hill, NC 27957
The vinyl bulkhead installed by S.M. Davenport & Sons during the period Nov 202o and
Feb 2021) collapse due to several design and construction errors. The initial collapse of
the bulkhead impacted 68 feet of the 114 foot wall. After heavy rains. on June 3, 2021
the remaining 46 feet of the bulkhead has weakened. The bulkhead requires complete
replacement.
The property will have a new bulkhead, constructed with pre fab concrete blocks. The
bulkhead will be 114 foot long and 6 foot tall, with approximately too tons of rock placed
at the base of the bulkhead on the water side. Lindsey Landscaping and Tractor Service
will serve as the contractor.
The new bulkhead will adjoin the bulkhead on 32o Gov Eden House. A 10 foot wing
wall will be installed on the property permitting the concrete blocks even and seamless
contact with the vinyl. A similar wing wall will be installed on 316 Gov Eden House Rd
for the same purpose.
Soil on the bank will be graded to align with the 6 foot high concrete block wall.
