DEAR MR. GREGSON,
PER CAMA VARIANCE REQUEST, I AM INCLUDING THE FOLLOWING
RESPONSES TO STATEMENTS A, B,C, & D:
A. THE ENFORCEMENT OF APPLICABLE DEVELOPMENT GUIDELINES
WILL CAUSE ME PRACTICAL DIFFICULTIES AND HARDSHIPS. THE
PIER IN QUESTION IS MOST NEEDED TO TIE UP MY BOAT AND FOR MY
FAMILY TO ENJOY. WITHOUT THE USE OF THE PIFR , MY FAMILY
WOULD NOT BE ABLE TO USE THE LOT TO THE FULLEST EXTENT . THE
PIER WAS BUILT IN THE MID 1970 ' S AND WAS DESTROYED BY
HURRICANE FRAN. I ONLY WANT TC REBUILD WHAT EXISTED BEFORE .
B. HARDSHIPS WOULD RESULT FROM CONDITIONS PECULIAR TO MY
FAMILY'S PROPERTY. THE LOT WAS BOUGHT FOR IT 'S SOUND VIEW
AND FOR THE ABILITY TO BUILD AND USE A PIER. WITHOUT THE
PIER, I WOULD HAVE NO PLACE TO TIE-UP MY BOAT AND A BIG
REASON WHY THE LOT WAS PURCHASED WOULD BE LOST.
C. THE COASTAL RESOURCES COMMISSION COULD NOT HAVE
RESONALBLY ANTICIPATED THESE CONDITIONS WHEN THE APPLICABLE
GUIDELINES AND STANDARDS WERE ADOPTED. HURRICANE FRAN WAS
AN ACT OF GOD WHICH SIGNIFICANTLY DAMAGED PORTIONS OF OUR
COAST, RESIDENTS LIKE MYSELF ARE STILL TRYING TO REBUILD
AND RECOVER FROM THIS DISASTER.
D . THIS PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT (REBUILDING OP MY PIER) IS
VERY MUCH WITHIN THE SPIRIT , PURPOSE, AND INTENT OF THE
COMMISSION ' S REGULATIONS . THE PURPOSE OF THIS PROPOSED
DEVELOPMENT IS SOLELY TO REBUILD WHAT WAS ONCE WHOLE, AND TO
USE THE LAND FOR IT ' S INTENDED PURPOSE ,
