Department of Environment and Natural Resources 127 North Cardinal Drive Wilmington, NC 28405-3845 Re: City of Wilmington- Love Grove Tidegate Repairs Dear Mr. Brooks: On behalf of the City of Wilmington, I would like to request a CAMA"Repair and Maintenance Authorization Permit" as we discussed for the above project by offering the following brief overview of the repairs to be performed: 1. Repair broken stringer on northern half of perpendicular catwalk 2. Re-seat northern end of northern half of perpendicular walkway 3. Install new steel sheet piling around concrete spillway (requires removing concrete cap on east end) to prevent further seepage and scour under existing concrete spillway and maintain side support This will also replace the existing deteriorated, burned, and damaged timber bulkhead which surrounds the spillway. 4. Prevent possible seepage under spillway under the tide gates by installing steel sheet piling cutoff walls on upstream and downstream sides of spillway. 5. Replace debris screens in-kind 6. Pour a new concrete cap on east side of spillway. 7. Install new concrete scour curb on west side of spillway to prevent soil erosion during overflows 8. Repair scour at wing wall with steel sheet piling Mr. Ed Brooks Division of Coastal Management July 10, 2000 Page 2 9. Install winch system to allow center gate to remain open for flushing benefits to creek The contractor intends to mobilize on site around mid-August.
