Statement of Compliance and Consistency
This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that I)prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit,the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian
landowner(s).
The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available
information and belief,certify that this project is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

Hi Angela:
I hope this email finds you doing well.
I am writing to you because last week I was issuing a Hurricane Isaias related permit for an individual
•
(Marion Deeter)to replace his floating dock in the same footprint due to damage related to the storm, at
119 SE 1st Street in Oak Island.
Since the floating dock is greater than 15' away from the edge of the property line and riparian corridor,
per NC regs he was not required to notify DOT(only in the case with hurricane permits).
Anyways,when I was on site, Mr. Deeter asked about a different project, adding a new 4' x 16'finger
pier extending from the corner of his bulkhead,with a 6'x 6' platform at the end,just past the wetland
marsh line.
Please see attached images. I've attempted to sketch out what he wants to add. He is attempting to
create a small walkway essentially for him to fish in the corner of his property that he has trouble
accessing due to mobility and rip rap. It's not to be a slip for any vessels.
Everything with his request is consistent with DCM rules, but I told him since he was proposing a new
addition, now we would have to notify DOT,and this is why am writing. Would the DOT have any
objections to this addition at his docking facility?
