On this date we have received your facsimile forwarding the
Town of Oak Island' s letter dated January 31, 2001, authorizing
you to place a temporary ramp and floating dock at the street-end
bulkhead at the north end of NW e'' Street. Copy of this
facsimile is enclosed.
As noted in the Town' s letter you are required to obtain
permits from the N. C. Department of Environment Natural
Resources, Division of Coastal Management and the U. S. Army
Corps of Engineers (USACOE) .
I am enclosing a copy of •the USACOE requirements for the
construction of Ramps and a copy of the USACOE requirements for
the construction of Floating Docks. Upon completion of those
requirements you may mail or hand deliver them to the attention
of Mr. Wayne Wright, with our Regulatory and Permit Division, at
our District. Office or to me I will see it through.
The USACOE permit requirements are the same for permanent
structures as for temporary ones; however, ensure that you note
that it is temporary structures and you provide a time span
duration (estimate) of this Ramp and Floating Dock.

SUBJECT: Floating Dock fbr Turtle Habitat Project Dredging Access
You are hereby authorized by the Town of Oak Island to place a temporary ramp and
floating dock oft of the street-end bulkhead at the north end of NW 4." Street, contingent
upon your obtaining approvals for same from the Army Corps of Engineers and the
Division of Coastal Management,NC DENR, as/if required.
Per our conversation this date, it is understood that the facility is necessary to allow safe
loading and unloading of personnel, etc.,working at the dredging operation across the
waterway EOM the NW 4 Street access. It is further understood that the ramp and dock
will be removed at the conclusion of the Turtle Habitat Restoration project, that the area
will be restored to its previous condition, and that the Town of Oak Island shall be held
harmless ftom any injury or damage that may result from the construction,use and
removal of the facility.
