DEHNR - COASTAL MANAGEMENT - SUPPLEMENT TO T15A:07H .1900
Because the Estuarine System and the Ocean Hazard Systems are
dynamic and fragile, great caution needs to be exercised when
working within them. The following are guidelines for working
within these areas under the General Permit # .1900. These
guidelines are in addition to the rules and regulations within the
General Permit itself. Please respect our environment,so that it
may be returned to the Public Trust in the same condition in which
you found it.
1) For pedestrian traffic, use any improved accesses available; travel along well worn paths
when no improved access is available; avoid the less worn paths that are the beginning
of a weakness in the system. When no access or worn path exists, scatter rather than all
using the same passageway.
2) Nothing is to be placed in the marsh or wetlands other than that specifically allowed by
your individual permit.
3) Any heavy equipment necessary to use in the wetlands is to be moved and placed on pads
or mats, unless.otherwise stated on your individual permit.
4) - Minimize the number of people within the wetlands and dune systems. It is concentrated
activity that causes severe and sometimes irreversible impacts.
5) Structures allowed in the marsh or ocean hazard area by your permit_must be "placed"
rather than "driven" into the substrate, unless otherwise stated on your individual permit.
6) Equipment is to be carried rather than dragged across the ocean vegetation, dune
systems, and wetlands.
7) Silt fencing is to be placed between any area of disturbance and the adjacent wetlands or
waters, except during the filming itself.
•
8) Minimize the number of vehicles on site, and restrict to established vehicular paths.
Please utilize these guidelines and any other common sense measures necessary to protect
the coastal environment.
