RE: Escarpment Maintenance
We have had erosion on areas of the beach that have led to the development
of some dangerous escarpments. We are requesting an exemption letter to allow us
to use equipment to create a smooth transition between the two elevations thereby
reducing the danger to residents and visitors who use the beach. In some areas, the
difference in elevation is approximately 5',with the transition being vertical. The
area of work is approximately 1,600' in length; although not all of it would require
the work we propose,we would prefer to request for a larger area and not need it,
than return to in several days with another request. The work area is defined by
Stone Street to the south and Augusta Street to the north.
We would like to proceed with this work as soon as is possible; therefore,if
