violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action; and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that I)prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit,the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian
landowner(s).
The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available
information and belief,certify that this project is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

This letter is in response to your July 15, 2002, with respect to your concerns about the proposal by
Mr. Ralph O'Donnell to construct a pier addition on his lot, adjacent to your property, at 6318 Timber
Creek Lane, in New Hanover County. Based on the dimensions and water depths provided with the permit
request, he proposed pier addition will not exceed the 1/4 width of the waterbody restriction, nor restrict
navigation in the creek. The proposed project has been determined to comply with the Rules of the Coastal
Resources Commission (7H.1200), and as such, the Division has issued a CAMA General Permit for the
proposed action. I have enclosed a copy of the rules which govern the issuance of permits for piers, docks
and boat houses.
If you wish to contest our decision to issue this permit, you must file for a contested case hearing
within twenty (20) days from the date the permit was issued. I have enclosed the applicable forms and
instructions that must be filed prior to that deadline. Please contact me at [phone], if you have any

Dear Sir:
My husband. Robert Mayo, called your office on 7/12/2002 with two questions and
concerns regarding the subject application and we have not received a return phone call.
The first question arid concern is hether the proposed added boat lift pilings will interfere
with other boat movement in the creek and exceed the limit of 1/4 of the width of the
water in this area. The deep water point tends to be toward the north side of the creek in
this area.
The second concern relates to the addition to the T-Head deck and boat lift and their
impact on the size and appearance of this structure in relation to the creek, marsh and
surrounding area. The T-head, ramp & floating dock extends 56 feet long and will be 25
feet wide with the addition to the deck and the boat lift, which makes this a large structure
that stands out and affects the neighbors view of the marsh and creek.
I prefer that the addition not be approved as submitted.
