Statement of Compliance and Consistency
This permit is subject to compliance with this application, site drawing and attached general and specific conditions. Any
violation of these terms may subject the permittee to a fine or criminal or civil action;and may cause the permit to become
null and void.
This permit must be on the project site and accessible to the permit officer when the project is inspected for compliance. The
applicant certifies by signing this permit that I)prior to undertaking any activities authorized by this permit,the applicant will
confer with appropriate local authorities to confirm that this project is consistent with the local land use plan and all local
ordinances, and 2) a written statement or certified mail return receipt has been obtained from the adjacent riparian
landowner(s).
The State of North Carolina and the Division of Coastal Management, in issuing this permit under the best available
information and belief,certify that this project is consistent with the North Carolina Coastal Management Program.

On January 10th I issued a CAMA General Permit to Dr. Langston authorizing construction of his pier, docks and
uncovered boat lift. The actual arrangement of the proposed structure did change somewhat from the drawing he
provided to you. I am attaching a copy of the permit for your review and files. The modified permit is in
compliance with the rules under Section 07H.1200 (attached).

Gentlemen: •
I represent Mrs. Elbert H. Martin, owner of the property known
as Lot 37, Brunswick Villas Subdivision, located generally West of
the land owned by the captioned applicant, Mr. Langston. Your
recent letter was addressed to Mr. Elbert H. Martin, my father, who
is deceased. Lot 37, Brunswick Villas Subdivision, is now owned by
Mrs. Martin, my mother.
We received the applicant' s sketch of its proposed dock, which
shows a pier five feet in width, having a length of approximately
230-feet, and having a covered gazebo, boat lift, and floating
dock, all in a 11Y11 configuration. We do object to this proposal as
being much too large and obtrusive an appurtenance to a lot only
85-feet in width.
We object to any dock area with a roof, as views would be
interrupted.
We object to the IIY11 configuration as being an excessive use
of the waterfront. area. At 45-feet in width, this arrangement is
much too large for a lot only 85feet in width.

We object to all three elements being presented, i. e. , the
gazebo area, the bOat lift part of the dock, and the floating dock.
We would not necessarily object to two of the three elements being
present (for instance, a boat lift and a floating dock) so long as
the aggregate width was reasonable (perhaps 20-feet) . We object to
any dock area having a cover or roof.
Mrs. Martin' s family has owned the adjacent property for many
years and does .plan to develop this site in the near future and
will seek their own dock permit . We would respectfully request
that docks planned for this subdivision of the Waterway be limited

water frontage and do not crowd neighboring property owners .
