The almost 20 year old pier had the appx 1' lower "crabbing dock" raised to the height of the main fixed pier because of high tide/king tide damage over the summer. The higher fixed height makes it more difficult to launch kayaks and paddleboards into the creek. The solution is a commercially available "launch step" cantilevered from the pier piles. Phase 1 is for a single "kayak step", appx 20" below the top of the deck. Please see the included drawings. Phase 2 is for the addition of up to 2 additional steps. Drawing out the tide positions, I can see that the homeowners will want to continue the safety step concept to even lower levels, again cantilevered from the pier pile structure. I have shown the dock ladder in Phase 1, but this might be included in the existing pier repair permit. Included are copies of the adjacent property owner notification forms, also seal dated 10-26-20.
