Subject: General Permit to Dredge and Fill
Last month I was granted a CAMA Permit to construct a bulkhead. (permit#38567) At that time,I also
requested a General Permit to dredge silt from the canal in front of the bulkhead. You asked me to submit
additional information regarding depth of adjoining water,dredge area,plans for spoil,etc.
My son,Christian Gibson,being an ocean engineer,conducted a depth survey of the area in question. He
also mapped out the drawing providing the information for the permit that you requested. The drawing/
plan is enclosed.
As you can see,we are asking to extract only 470 cubic yards of spoil. This spoil will be extracted by an
excavator positioned from land.
I am requesting that we be allowed to place the spoil into approximately five(5)piles along the 300 feet of
bulkheaded area. Silt fences will be constructed around these piles to prevent any backflow into the canal.
After the bulkhead is constructed,the fill should be dried sufficiently to be used as backfill and lot elevation
as indicated on the enclosed drawing.
