Subject: Masonboro Harbour Bulkhead Repairs
Masonboro Harbour Drive HOA contracted with Andrew Consulting Engineers to assess
the condition of the marina bulkheads and to provide design recommendations for repair.
The Association has determined that the basin bulkhead and breakwater need minor
maintenance, while the channel walls are in very poor condition and need immediate repair
The HOA has contracted with T D Eure of Moorehead City to build a new bulkhead
outboard of the existing timber walls on both sides of the channel. The new wall will
utilize Superloc Fiberglass sheet piling, whalers and cap from Creative Pultrusions. The
wall will anchored with galvanized steel soil anchors. The work is expected to take 2
weeks and will be done mainly from a barge .
Andrew Consulting will also provide project management and Construction observation of
the repairs to the existing channel bulkheads.
The north east channel wall is bordered by common area which is owned by the HOA. The
south-west channel wall is bordered by 4 lots which are owned by individual members
listed above. The North Carolina Dept. of Environmental will issue one general permit to
the HOA to cover the wall bordering the common area and will issue a general permit
each homeowner bordering the opposite wall. This will allow us to complete the repairs
and avoid the time and expense of obtaining a major permit for the whole project.. Please
sign the Adjacent Riparian Property Owner Notifications and I will act as your agent in
obtaining the permits.
