Debbie Wilson, Division of Coastal Management 08 June 2006
Storm Water Work Outline
Work to perform as recommended by the Division of Water Quality, to examine the existing and assess
the need for larger diameter discharge lines and a maintenance operation for the infiltration areas.
There is one infiltration area that is visible within the vegetation as indicated on the attached map. This
infiltration area handles well all the water that has been pumped to it and surface water that has arrived
there as well. Our hope is to locate the other infiltration areas and take maintenance action to restore
the ability to move water from our parking area and buildings to the infiltration areas already in
existence far landward of the frontal dune.
• Almost all of the current planned work is to the discharge side of the pump, indicating a far less
than 50% of value repair and maintenance
• Mow general area where existing conduits are, in an effort to locate the exit point
• Examine condition of exit point location and make repairs as necessary to facilitate flow and
infiltration
• Some of the conduits are known to have several elbows and direction changes, our hope is to
straighten these lines and enlarge the conduits to reduce head pressure at the pump and facilitate
volume delivery to the infiltration point and to facilitate infiltration to accommodate the necessary
volume while preventing any run-off that may cause erosion.
• We intend to probe the area where we know the conduits go below the surface and will make a
great effort to define the path prior to any soil disturbance as possible.
• Any soil disturbance necessary should be on mostly level ground and soil stabilization practices will
be put in place very quickly.
• The only need we see at this time for soil disturbance is for the installation of the larger diameter
conduits and straightening of the path.
• We intend to be in touch with Debbie Wilson via e-mail and phone as the work progresses to
facilitate compliance with rules and regs.
Rope Fence Work Outline
In the past there was sand fence in place that may have helped direct traffic. That fence was installed
improperly and was removed some time ago. We have six beach accesses. None have any traffic
direction devices. We would like to install rope fencing from each set of stairs directing traffic to the
beach and funneling traffic from the beach to the stairs. We would also like to install rope fence along
the frontal dune to prevent traffic from continuing to damage this important feature on our beach.
Please see attached map.
Very Respectfully.
