Dear Mr. Watkins:
This letter is in response to your correspondence received by the Division of Coastal
Management on May 17, 2006, regarding your concerns about the proposal by Lawrence Inman
to construct a bulkhead adjacent to the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, at 1783 Village Point
Road, SW, near Shallotte, in Brunswick County. The project consists of the construction of a
wooden bulkhead landward of normal high water and landward of Coastal Wetland vegetation.
The proposed project has been determined to comply with the Rules of the Coastal Resources
Commission (7H.1100), and as such, a permit has been issued to authorize the development. I
have enclosed a copy of the permit, as well as, the relevant statutes.
If you wish to contest our decision to issue this permit, you may file a request for a Third
Party Hearing. The request for a hearing will be considered by the Chairman of the Coastal
Resources Commission. The hearing request must be filed with the Director, Division of Coastal
Management, in writing and must be received within twenty(20) days after the disputed permit
decision is made. Please contact me at (910) 796-7270 if you would like me to send you the
applicable forms and instructions that must be filed prior to that deadline or if you have any
additional questions.

I misplaced the form that I received regarding the permit for
Lawrence Inman in Brunswick County. I hope this statement will
suffice. If not, please fax me another copy to my business fax
number — 754-2434 which is at the Employment Security
Commission office in Shallotte.
I do object to the permit for Lawrence Inman,parcel #2300A023,
at 1783 Village Point Road in Brunswick County. I understand his
request is within the regulations but not knowing the impact it will
have on our property and the cost it is going to incur on us the
protect our property is why I object.
