Pending permit application for Bulkhead
Dear Mr. Mairs,
This is to amend the application for a Bulkhead to replace the existing Bulkhead
at 1207 Canal Drive, Carolina Beach,NC 28428, submitted to CAMA on September 12,
2006,to provide for a Bulkhead to run in a straight north/south direction, following the
line of the existing deteriorated Bulkhead.
This is based on the attached identification of the small grassy area to the east of
the existing Bulkhead by the North Carolina Extension Service as being"Common
Bermuda".
We would appreciate your prompt attention as this minor permit application has
been pending for sometime and the property in question is eroding sand and silt into the
adjacent marsh with every lunar tide or heavy rainfall.

Dear Sir or Madam:
In the summer of 1993, docks and pilings were constructed at 1207
Canal Drive, Carolina Beach, NC. These docks and/or pilings were
placed within the area of riparian access of the adjacent property at
1205 Canal Drive. There should be, in your records, a riparian access
waiver signed by the property owners at that time. The owners in 1993
were:
Ibrahim and Kathryn Orgun
1205 Canal Drive (Lot 13A, Block 22, Carolina Beach North)
James Theodore "Ted" and Cynthia Beason
1207 Canal Drive (Lot 14A, Block 22, Carolina Beach North)
The adjacent owner on the other side was Myrtle D. Curry, 1209 Canal
Drive, (Lot 15A Block 22, Carolina Beach North.)
I would very much appreciate it if you could research your records and
send me a copy of the riparian access waiver. I will be happy to pay any
charges related to research or copying upon receipt.

In 1974, the North Carolina General Assembly passed the Coastal Are:
Management Act and set the stage for guiding development in fragile ant
productive areas that border the state's sounds and oceanfront. Along wit!
requiring special care by those who build and develop, the General As.
sembly directed the Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) to implement
clear regulations that minimize the burden on the applicant.
This application for a minor development permit under CAMA is part o
the Commission's effort to meet the spirit and intent of the General As
sembly. It has been designed to be straightforward and require no mon
time or effort necessary from the applicant. Please go over this folder wit!
the Local Permit Officer(LPO)for the locality in which you plan to build tt
be certain that you understand what information he or she needs.
Under LAMA regulations. the.minor permit is to be issued within 25 day
once a complete application is in hand. Often less time is needed if thi
project is simple. The process generally takes about 18 days. You cat
speed the approval process by making certain that your application is corn
plete and signed, that your drawing meets the specifications given insid4
and that your application fee is attached.
Other permits are sometimes required for development in the coastal area
While these are not CAMA-related, we urge you to check with the Lnca

Pending permit application for Bulkhead
Dear Mr. Mairs,
This is to amend the application for a Bulkhead to replace the existing Bulkhead
at 1207 Canal Drive, Carolina Beach, NC 28428, submitted to CAMA on September 12,
2006,to provide for a Bulkhead to run in a straight north/south direction, following the
line of the existing deteriorated Bulkhead.
This is based on the attached identification of the small grassy area to the east of
the existing Bulkhead by the North Carolina Extension Service as being "Common
Bermuda".
We would appreciate your prompt attention as this minor permit application has
been pending for sometime and the property in question is eroding sand and silt into the
adjacent marsh with every lunar tide or heavy rainfall.

In 1974. the North Carolina Cenernl Assembly passed the Coastal Arcs
Management Act and set the stage for guiding development in fragile and
productive areas that border the states sounds and oceanfront. Along with
requiring special care by those who build and develop. the Cenerol As-
sembly directed the Coastal Resources Commission (CRC) to implement
clear regulations that minimize the burden on the applicant,
This application for a minor development permit under CAMA is part of
the Commission's effort to meet the spirit and intent of the General As-
sembly-. It has been designed to be straightforward and require no more
time or effort necessary from the applicant. Please go over this folder with
the Local Permit Officer(LPO)for the locality in which you plan to build to
he certain that you understand what information he or she needs.
Under CAMA regulations,the minor permit is to be issued within 25 days
once a complete application is in hand. Often less time is needed If the
project Is simple. The process generally takes about 18 days. You can .
speed the approval process by making•certain that your application b corn-•
plete stud signed, that your drawing meets the Specifications given inside •
and that your application.fee is•attached.
Other permits are sometimes required for development in the coastal area.
While these are not CAMA-related. we urge.you:.to check with the Local
Permit Officer to determine which of these ;yots may need. A listing ilia,.

This application for a minor development permit under CAMA is part e
the Commission's effort to meet the spirit and intent of the General As
sembly. It has been designed to be straightforward and require no mor
time or effort necessary from the applicant. Please go over this folder wit
the Local Permit Officer(t..PO)tier the locality in which you plan to build t
be certain that you understand what information he or she needs.
Under CAMA regulations, the minor permit is to be issued within 25 day
once a complete application is in hand. Often less time is needed if tlr
project is simple. The process generally takes about 18 days. You cn
speed the approval process by making certain that your application is coin
plete and signed, that your drawing meets the specifications given insid
and that your.application fee is attached.

Robb, I just wanted to pass on some info that I received this past week-end about the layout for the
bulkhead at 1207 Canal. As you know, you and your assistant staked out the area for the intended
bulkhead several weeks ago. While I was not at Carolina Beach this past week-end, I was informed tf
some of those stakes were removed and replaced near the original bulkhead sometime either this pas
Thursday night(7/20) or early Friday morning(7/21). I don't know whether your people did this or
whether someone else did this. I am simply passing this info on to you for your information. Also,
we(the condo owners at 1205) have rejected the latest proposal, by certified mail-return receipt
requested, from the Davis' about extending the floating dock out 7' towards the pier head line but not
moving the floating dock over towards(south) our property. We actually do not have an objection to thl
Davis' extending the existing dock at its present width out 7' towards the pier head line PROVIDED tha
the 3 pilings separating their docking area and our dock area are not moved or removed. We have
contacted a local attorney to provide the correct working and legal structure and will re-submit the Day
proposal based upon these legal revisions. We e-mailed the Davis' that we would allow the 7' extensic
PROVIDED that the legal stipulations regarding the status of the 3 pilings are attached to the necessai
