Mr. Brownlow might have forwarded to you, my email to him, outlining those questions,which I am including here. My husband and I own property in Onslow County(100 Mainsail Dr., Sneads Ferry, NC PIN 428904509036, Tax parcel ID 773C-47). Our property is adjacent to a community common area(NC PIN 428904508064,Tax parcel ID 773C-75). The community area includes a 10-slip floating dock, that is jointly owned by the 10 boat slip owners. One of the boat slip owners,Wolfdieter Hannig, is currently in the process of installing a boat lift. In the course of the lift construction, Mr. Hannig has driven 4 large additional pilings to support the lift(which is independent of the existing floating dock,with the exception of a future electrical connection). First, I would like to know if a permit is required for this lift. (It is my understanding that a permit is required,whenever pilings are driven or things are disrupted.... is that true?) Secondly, I would like to know whether or not CAMA has in fact issued a permit for to Mr. Hannig for this lift construction. We are particularly concerned because Mr. Hannig has not followed the Homeowners' Association approval process with this, and we want to know whether or not he is in accordance with CAMA regulations. Lastly, if a permit is required and has been issued, it is my understanding that-as adjacent property owners, we should have received a certified letter notifying us of the construction intent. We did not. If, in fact, we should have received such formal notification,what possible recourse do we have on this?
