Hi Patrick,
I talked to Matthew Godfrey. NCWRC sea turtle biologists have looked at the area, and agree
that there is little to no sea turtle habitat in front of those two structures. If they limit their
work to those two specific areas, then hopefully they will not disturb any nests. To further limit
potential impacts to nesting sea turtles, work should be conducted only during daylight hours,
after the sea turtle patrol has completed surveys and cleared the beach. Equipment should
enter the beach as close to the sites as possible so as to limit travel on the beach. The vehicle
should drive on wet sand, if possible.
