Subject: Request for approval to perform Maintenance and Repair work
on the pier at the Center for Marine Science, Myrtle Grove.
UNCW Project #3502
Robb,
We propose to perform the work listed below to provide support for a new davit
crane that is replacing an existing crane. The crane will be mounted to the deck of
the pier for the purpose of loading/offloading equipment and seawater from the
research vessel docked at the pier.
• Install four additional pilings for structural support of the crane.
• Structural Steel will be attached to the pilings on which the crane will be
mounted.
• All work will be within the footprint of the existing structure.
I have highlighted the four additional piles to be installed on the attached
drawing. Please call me with any questions— cell 512-7165.
Thank you,
