Holley,
Thank you for meeting with me today. Our request for a CAMA exemption is below.
Overview. The City of Wilmington is preparing for an emergency repair project located at the corner of Water S
and Market St adjacent to the Visitor's Center. The current retaining structure (5' tall concrete 'grade' beam) is
no longer stabilizing the Water Street area. We propose to install a 160 foot long steel bulkhead with a concrete
cap and helical anchors under the current sidewalk. This bulkhead will address stability needs that the current
structure does not provide. This emergency repair project will protect this historical area including the roadway
and adjacent buildings -allowing tourism in this important area. With the importance and historic nature of then
areas, this project does not exceed 50% of the value of the protected area. The project site plan is attached.
Please provide us with a CAMA exemption permit. If you need any additional information, please contact me.
