Dear Mr. Batson;
Please find attached a CAMA Minor Development permit application, filled out to the best of my ability,
requesting permission to erect a tent for our wedding weekend, as we discussed with you in person in
November, 2008.
To refresh your memory, we have rented from Carolina Beach Realty the property known as The
Cottages at Kure Beach at 1208 A and B, 1212 A and B, and 1216 A and B North Fort Fisher Boulevard,
Kure Beach, NC, for our wedding weekend April 24-April 27, 2009.
We would like a permit to erect a 30x60 tent adjacent to the pool area. The tent will he installed on
Friday, April 24, 2009 and removed on Monday, April 27, 2009. The area does not interfere with any
other land owners (directly behind the tent is a Carolina Beach public beach access) no other land is
adjacent to the area we would like to have the tented.
Attached is a letter from Jim Kitts, Carolina Beach Realty, the agent for the property giving us his
permission to erect a tent on behalf of the owners, a $100,00 permit fee, a diagram (to the best of my
ability) and the application.

This letter is being sent as an informal compliance assistance notice concerning the placement of
temporary tents within the Ocean Hazard Area of Environmental Concern (AEC). Please be advised that
a CAMA Permit will be required for the placement of any temporary structure, located on or adjacent to
the Cottages at Kure Beach, at 1208, 1212, and 1216 North Fort Fisher Blouveard, in Kure Beach, New
Hanover County.
On April 18, 2009, staff with the Town of Kure Beach discovered two unauthorized tents and
platform, located on the ocean side of the existing dwellings that has no record of approval from the N.C.
Division of Coastal Management. You are hereby notified that you must obtain the required permit
authorization prior to the placement of any structures within the Ocean Hazard AEC. Future construction
or installation of any unauthorized structure will result in the issuance of a Notice of Violation. In
addition to the Notice of Violation, a civil assessment will also be levied upon you.
Please find enclosed a copy of the CAMA Rule requirements for Temporary Structures within the
Ocean Hazard AEC, as well as my contact information.
