Enclosed is a copy of a notice and partial diagram I received by fax regarding the re-
building of the bulkhead at the end of Durham Street, Holden Beach, NC. I own the property at
136 Durham Street which is at the end of the street and adjacent to the proposed construction.
From my observations of the proposed construction, the new bulkhead will act as a dam
and back-up the rain water that currently flows down the street and into the canal. The bulkhead
will be higher than the end of the street and the water will have no place to go except onto my
property and the property of the person directly across the street from me. This bulkhead will
result in our property being adjacent to a small holding pond after each heavy rain. The water
running down the street is not the natural flow but is the result of the run-off created by the
construction and development.
For these reasons I object to this bulkhead work until the storm/rain water run-off
problem is resolved.
