Hurricane Irene Phase 2 Repairs
Dear Mr. Dail:
In accordance with your site meeting with Onslow County Parks and Recreation
Department Staff this letter will set out our Proposal for removal of deposited sand and
replacement onto the dune line at the above site. This work is titled Phase 2 Repairs, since it was
not included in our request dated August 31, 2011.
Similar to the August 31, 2011 request, attached is a reduced copy of a previous Site Plan
for Beach Access #4, originally prepared in 2005 to reflect repairs associated with Hurricane
Ophelia. In red I have identified the information associated with the overwash area at the
bathhouse location, the approximate area of sand deposit and the area where the sand is planned
to be replaced at the overwash.
This work is to be accomplished by County forces using both mechanical and hand labor.
Hand labor will be used to remove any foreign materials from the sand deposit, and a
combination backhoe with a front end bucket will be used to scrape the sand from the existing
parking lot, transferring it to the oceanward side of the bathhouse and decking structure and
placing the sand underneath these structures in line with the existing dune line. To allow for the
movement of the equipment from the parking lot to the oceanward side of the dune, a
passageway, minimized to the smallest practicable, will be made in the dune immediatelv
