I wish there was another place you could put the lift as It will be somewhat of eyesore for us. Having lived on the canal for nearly 12 years, we have enjoyed the unobstructed views both ways on the canal. Having owned salt water boats for 20 plus years the maintenance is sometimes overwhelming, salt on stainless, fuse connection rusting, bottom paint every two years, fuel filter, wash down pumps, etc. So I feel your pain. I do believe that lifts are more hassle than they are worth. We have used them up at Harkers Island on the old Southport boat because of shallow water. We have had the electric motors short out, cables come out of the guides and the worst is not being able to lower the boat when the weather allows you to go fishing. I know you are within your setbacks and there is really nothing I can do but suggest the other side of your lot.
