WINDING RIVER PLANTATION
MAINTENANCE DREDGING GENERAL PERMIT REQUEST
The Winding River Plantation Property Owner's Association is requesting a general permit to
conduct maintenance excavation within the existing man-made boat basin. The Winding River
Plantation Boat Basin is located at the end of Riverhouse Road SE adjacent to the Lockwood
Folly River and within the Winding River Plantation Subdivision, near Bolivia, in Brunswick
County. This activity has been previously permitted under CAMA Major permit # 11-09 which
expired on December 10, 2015.
As proposed the excavation operations will be executed via mechanical (bucket to barge)
dredging. The boat basin is approximately 17,317 square feet in area and existing water depths
average -2.0 to -2.5 feet at mean low water. The proposed final project depth is -4.0 feet at mean
low water and would result in the removal of approximately 960-990 cubic yards of spoil
material. The resulting spoil material will be transported via water tight dump trucks to Mud
Duck Farm located at 1470 Old Lennon Road SE near Bolivia (see attached map and letter of
authorization). The spoil disposal would be limited to the areas of cleared high ground located
on site Mud Duck Farm.
The adjacent riparian property owner notifications are attached, as well as the agent authorization
form signed by the POA, and the relevant drawings, maps and documents. Please feel free to
