.in contacting you to inform you of my plans to repair and provide routine maintenance to my
ck, floating dock and gangway. As you may be aware, this structure was built approximately 1
ar after I purchased my home located at 154 Sailfish Dr. in 1990. After 25 years I now have
[twater termites eating through some of my pilings and my floating dock has reached its useful
e span with the Styrofoam floaters beginning to deteriorate significantly.
gave contacted a local contractor in the area who specializes in dock and bulkhead work and I
pose the following:
Replace the existing floating dock with a new floating dock of the same dimensions and the
same position that the current floater is.
Replace the existing gangway with a gangway that is 1 foot longer. This gangway will come
into the existing dock structure an additional 2 feet in an effort to make the gangway safer by
decreasing the angle of the gangway at low tide. The floating dock will not extend into the
canal any further than the existing floater does today. We also propose to build a railing
around the gangway where it comes into the sundeck portion of the dock for additional safety.
We also propose to build additional decking to a 45 degree angle, as depicted on the enclosed
picture, to provide room to navigate around the gangway safely. The additional decking does
not encroach upon the existing set back to your property line and it does not cover any addi-
tional marsh grass.
Replace 4 pilings along the East side of the dock.
Provide cross over support directly under the dock for additional support and safety (should
have been done at time of original construction).
Through bolt dock frame to pilings using galvanized bolts.
