Buoy Testing off of Masonboro Island:
EcoH20 Innovations, LLC is planning to deploy and test a buoy off of Masonboro Island, North
Carolina. The proposed site sits approximately 1 mile South of Masonboro Inlet, about 1200
feet off of the beach (34 degrees 9'56.23"N, 77 degrees 49'21.88"W). The 5 foot diameter
buoy will be used to perform wave research and evaluate a key component of the SAROS drive
system. The buoy will be anchored in approximately 20 feet of water using a removable,
gravity base mooring as well as a backup danforth anchor (mooring schematic below). The
buoy, mooring and all associated rigging will be removed by EcoH20 Innovations at the
conclusion of the trial or by the expiration of any granted permits.

1 morning Hope,
tame is Justin Sonnett from EeoH2O Innovations / SAROS Desalination. I believe you have been in toi
Courtney Spears from the Division of Coastal Managment. Our company is developing an eco-friendl`
;ost, wave powered desalination system to provide abundant, clean water to small, less developed coast
nunities around the world.
vill be operating a wave research buoy about a quarter mile off of Masonboro Island, about one mile Sc
asonboro Inlet. I have attached a brief description of the buoy installation that includes more detail abo
uoy, its specific location and a drawing of the mooring layout.
is just a notice and no action is needed on your part other than to provide a confirmation that you recei
;mail. If you could please reply to this email letting me know that you received it that would be
t. I will then pass this confirmation along to Courtney at DCM so she can move forward with the
